Pee Wee LL 'A' Champions
Pee Wee LL 'A' CHAMPIONS I would like to congratulate my team on an amazing finish to an awesome year!!! I am so very proud of each and every one of you! It was a team effort from start to finish. Our record for the year was 22 - 2 - 5, the last league game we lost was Oct 21/16. We had 182 GF ( the most in the league) and 63 GA (the fewest in the league), we went 4-0-2 in the round robin and swept Apsley 2-0 in the 'A' finals

Apsley was the only team to give us trouble all year but they couldn't beat us. We beat them and tied them in the round robin. Then it was us vs them in the final. We came out very flat in game #1 in Campbellford and found ourselves behind at the end of two periods 2-0. We knew what we had to do, we just had to go out and do it. We scored early in the third to cut their lead in half, but we still weren't playing to our standards. With about 4 mins left in the third we came alive and Apsley couldn't get out of their end. We pulled our goalie for the extra attacker and put every bit of pressure on them we could muster. Finally something went our way and we scored to tie the game and send it to overtime. In the overtime session we kept the pressure on them not letting them get the puck out of their end. With 4:41 left in the overtime we scored the game winner! It looked like our old team was back. We had two really good practices during the week to get prepared for game #2 in Apsley on Mar 4. Going into the dressing room to give the pre game talk before game 2 and the room was silent, it was almost as though you could sense that they meant business on this day. We did our talk and the kids were focused and ready to go. They went out and dominated the first two periods but only lead 3-0 at the intermission. We knew that 3 goals wasn't enough to win, because Apsley had the scoring to catch us. So we came back for period 3 and they turned it up about 3 notches, potting 5 more goals to win the game and the 'A' Championship 8-0. We as coaches had a blast with these kids this year. They were an awesome bunch to work with. It was nice to see the improvement in all of them no matter the skill level they had. I am so honoured to have coached you kids this year, you are the 'Nation of Domination' Enjoy the Championship you earned it! Coach Glen
