U11 - Sean McNeil
Sean is entering his third season with the Colts. He brings over 20 years of coaching experience to CMHA across four provinces in a variety of roles including Assistant, Associate Head Coach, and Head Coach. Sean has coached at the B, AA, AAA, High School, Junior, and Men’s University levels over the course of his coaching career. His positions have afforded him the opportunity to work with a number of experienced amateur and professional coaches. Their concepts and philosophies have helped Sean to gain a varied and unique perspective on the game of hockey, that has lead to his own successful approach to coaching.
Sean has a proven track record of both team and player development success. He has been behind the bench for a number of high performing teams including the 8 time VIJHL Champion Victoria Cougars, 5 time BCIHL Champion UVic Vikes, and the historic Victoria Racquet Club Tier 1/AAA minor hockey association.
Player development and helping players achieve their goals has always been Sean’s focus. This has been proven by the many former players he has worked with who have moved on to higher levels from minor hockey to professional. In addition to his club teams Sean has held several player development roles including; Sr. Instructor UVic hockey schools, Player Development Coach of the Banff Hockey Academy, Sr. Instructor Behind the Bench Hockey, and was an Instructor at the Jr. Prep Hockey Camp owned by former NHL coaches Barry Smith & Mike Johnston. Most recently he has taken on the roles of CMHA Coaching Convenor and Player Development committee member.
U13 - Ryan Bennett
Ryan Bennett was born and raised in Campbellford and grew up playing minor hockey here. He watched his father coach hockey at all levels for over 40+ years, and he himself, brings 20+ years of experience coaching at many levels.
Ryan’s coaching journey began in 2001 and his success as a coach began early on. As a Coach Ryan is a 3x Regional Sliverstick champion, a Peterborough Liftlock Champion and a 2x All-Ontario Champion across the U11-U18 age groups. Two of his trips to the International Silver Stick resulted in trips to the Semi-Finals. Fast forward to 2025 and two kids later, he has now coached kids from U7-U18 and just finished his season as an assistant coach in the Klevr Super League with the 2016 tier 2 team.
Coach Bennett’s accolades include winning the 2023 Jim Crothers Grass Roots Award for helping young age groups throughout the season. In 2024 he and his fellow bench staff received the CMHA team effort award for their U11 team. He has also shared the “Coaching staff of the year” award on multiple occasions.
Ryan’s coaching philosophy is about developing well-rounded players, emphasizing both individual skill development and team play, while also fostering a positive and competitive environment. He has the knowledge and love for the game that will make him a great coach for the 2025/2026 season.
U15 - Scott Chapman
Scott is the proud coach of the U15 Rep Hockey Team, bringing a wealth of experience from both playing and coaching backgrounds. Growing up, Scott began his minor hockey career with the Colborne and Brighton organizations, before advancing to the Quinte Red Devils AAA organization for several seasons. His playing journey continued after being drafted by the Owen Sound Platers of the Ontario Hockey League, with playing multiple seasons with the Bancroft Hawks and Cobourg Cougars of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL).
After transitioning from playing to coaching, Scott has been fortunate to share his knowledge and develop players for over 15 seasons in both the Brighton and Campbellford hockey organizations. Scott was honored to receive the Coach of the Year Award, a testament to his commitment to player development and team success.
As a coach, Scott believes it is his duty and responsibility to provide an organized, systematic foundation that enables players to succeed both individually and as a cohesive team. Drawing from their own experience as a player, Scott emphasizes that hard work and determination outweigh raw talent. This philosophy drives the team's core values: speed, tenacity, discipline, and unity as a team of "one."
Prior to each season, team goals and expectations are discussed, ensuring every player understands their role in achieving success. Each player is expected to give their absolute best at all times to contribute to the team's success and help reach collective milestones.
Above all, Scott stresses the importance of representing the Colts organization and the Campbellford community with class and dignity, both on and off the ice. Scott is excited for a successful 2025-2026 season and looks forward to another year of growth and achievement for the U15 Rep Hockey Team.
U18 - Jakob Newman
Hockey has been a passion of Jakob’s since a young age, he spent his entire minor hockey career in Trent Hills, much of which was proudly representing the Colts. Upon graduating from the Colts Jakob continued on to play junior for the Campbellford Rebels, while completing his post secondary education. Upon completing his playing career Jakob transitioned into coaching first with the Colts and this season with the U16 Quinte West Hawks who qualified for the All-Ontario Championship Tournament.
Jakob brings an undeniable energy and passion to his coaching and is eager to support his players in their goals, whether it be academic or pursuit of a career in Junior hockey. He is able to draw on his own experiences to understand what each player needs. Coach Newman is looking forward to the opportunity to bring a U18 All-Ontario Championship to the Colts organization that he has so proudly represented for so many years.
